Cherished Boots is a 16”x20” inch acrylic painting of a poison ivy entwining a little cabbage palm tree. I saw this scene in an orange grove on Merritt Island as I sat down to do a painting of the grove. A shaft of sunlight lit this scene in such a dramatic manner that I couldn’t resist painting it instead. The sticky-out thingy left on the tree from a fallen palm frond is known as a boot. I love the textures. The pretty green of the poison ivy seems to belie its danger and it looked as if it was caressing the tree. This painting won several art awards. | |||
